May 4th at Birds

I mentioned the podcast, S-town, this morning. It’s interesting and weird. Give it a listen.

It has become very popular over the past few weeks. Weird, so give it chance.

Here’s the link: https://stownpodcast.org/

Members:

Brett Bain.

Sean Baylis. Cars, computers and healthcare: Sean has been test driving Teslas (but notice: he just purchased an Acura MDX). He thinks Elon Musk is erratic to say the least. He sees Apple shares struggling. If they slip downwards, they may be a good buy. He’s also liking healthcare. You might want to look at HHL.U. (It’s paying 8% and that’s not a dividend. It’s Return Of Capital.)  Because of ‘The Notley Effect’, more and more companies are pulling their operations out of Alberta. Sean has a Resource sector company in his sights …

Jim Bladon.

Paul Boucher.  Paul was an investment advisor this morning, sort of. Speculating about Pembina pipelines. • He’s soon off to Atlanta to attend one of the largest gatherings of the Elearning World.

Greg Callander.

Ian Campbell. The funding and approval process for third-parties in Ian’s industry are denying the better options for WCB (et al) claims. Such claimants are being denied the better quality equipment and more modern technologies. It’s frustrating — it’s interfering with how Ian believes he should practice his profession.

Matt Dart.

Don Davis . Don’s Walton Avoidance Radar may have saved him from losing money on the Walton group bankruptcy. • Don and Pat have reluctantly absented themselves from their cancer volunteering roles, partly because the ‘human’ interaction’ qualities such activities used to provide, are greatly diminished. • His pet winery was sold to a conglomerate — but though the winery may be gone, the perks and privileges continueth on.

Todd Dean.

George Doherty. We’ve all heard the one about the fish that got away. This morning, George would have us believe that Ospreys swooped in to steal not one – but two – decent sized fish that he and a friend recently caught. Neither fisherman is known to be a pothead or excessive drinker, but still … two, George! Two!

Don Doolan. When the sun comes out in Calgary, Don sports shirtsleeves, shorts and sandals. (And his shirt was something to behold.)

Ken Eades.

Tony Fisher. Mentioned that Mel is still trying to get rid of the blood clots in his legs. (Been there, done that. Not fun.) • Tony reports that loudspeakers playing the sound of woodpeckers in distress is better than having woodpeckers knocking on your eaves and chimneys. So far.

Gord Forsyth . Not much to say today.

Mel Gibson.

Henry Heuver. Life is still a bunch of bidding and waiting.

David Hicks.

Bill Hoogstratten.

Dan Kennelly.  Recently visited one of our landfill sites. Now has a special hat speckled with unmentionables.

Keith Kozak.

Matt Litke. Matt was like Gord this morning: quiet.

Andy Lockhart.

J.D. MacDonald. Before you turn on your outside taps, check to make sure all is well. And then, after turn on, check to make sure they’re not leaking,

Michael McLennan.

Ross Mikkelsen. Sunshine must aggravate his fingers. Today he was running the top of his pointer finger over the side of his thumb. • Tip: retail stores are busiest between 1 and 4 pm. Want good service? Come to the store after or before these hours.

Mike Mikkelson.

Gerry Parcells.

Bruce Roblin.

Dwayne Vink.

Bob Wiggins. Crazy for You is playing at Theatre Calgary. A very enjoyable show.

Chris Wright.

George Roberts.  Words work when written well.
