Yah Hoo!

July 11

Members:

Brett Bain.

Sean Baylis.

Jim Bladon.

Paul Boucher. Switching from one business manager to another is … complicated. •  On another note: some guidance from McGinnis and Holloway  – plus having a lawyer in the family – eased the pain of saying goodbye to Paul’s father-in-law, last week.

Ian Campbell . Kudos to Sean for a good investment suggestion

Matt Dart .

Don Davis . Before you go gopher shooting (as in slaying the pesky critters on your own property), know that the RCMP might come by and worse, they might even arrest you. • Don also has kudos for Sean (enjoying his REIT, Crown Castle).

Todd Dean: He and the family are settling in for what’s shaping up to be a very busy year..

George Doherty.

Don Doolan

Tony Fisher. Sales of Dream Home tickets – and 50/50 tickets – went well. The new tablet systems make transactions fast and easy.

Gord Forsyth. Gord continues his quest for that ‘one of these days’ treat: the perfect (well, at least, edible) corn dog. Did he succeed this year? We’ll find out on Thursday.

Mel Gibson.

Henry Heuver. Calgary area tree ailments include black knot disease (a fungus) and leaf miners. For black knot, if you can get at it, cut it out and dispose of it carefully. It’s too late for leaf miners this year; but earmark that tree for spraying next spring.

David Hicks.

Dan Kennelly. I think he used the word ‘bon hommie’ to describe his day in the sun, at the rodeo, sipping a Bud and watching cowboys wrangle wild horses and mad bulls for (up to) 8 seconds of sheer terror. Dan then took a tour of the ‘animal’ barns.

Matt Litke. Now grilling better burgers, flattened chicken and scorched beef on his new Barbecues Galore grilling gear.

Andy Lockhart. Millions of mosquitoes are having unprotected sex around Andy’s place. But they can’t stop him from carving with his grandson; or reading all about the German who invented the carburetor that enabled fighter planes to fly upside down etc.

J.D. MacDonald.

Michael McLennan. 3D printing continues to amaze people as it spins ever newer applications on top of the already new applications. Just watch: 3D may very well bring manufacturing back to North America.

Ross Mikkelsen. Passed around a copy of The Range Men, a book-full of “cowboys, outlaws, celebrated chieftains, murderers, disappearing buffalo, whisky peddlers, Black and Chinese Albertans, missionaries, cattle barons and brave policemen”—(cribbed from the foreword by Sid Marty). And what does a Century ago have in common with today? One of their biggest challenges then, as now, was getting their resources to market.

Mike Mikkelson. Mike was not impressed by the brawl between a couple of aboriginals while at the stampede. It kind of took away from the day, eh.

Brad Pachal. Brad has the Columbia river basin on his mind. On his to-do list, he has enough work to keep him busy until November. (But he can always squeeze another project in.)

Gerry Parcells. He was at Birds but not too chatty.

Dwayne Vinck.

Bob Wiggins.   He told us a banker story.
